The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) pursuant to Code of Maryland Regulation 08.02.10.01 F(5) announced that the commercial horseshoe crab fishery for the Chesapeake Bay, its tributaries and the Atlantic Ocean, its coastal bays and their tributaries will close effective 12:01 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2005. The quota of 170,653 horseshoe crabs is projected to be caught by this closure date.
