The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) pursuant to Code of Maryland Regulation 08.02.10.01 has announced a modification for the 2005 commercial horseshoe crab fishery.
Effective immediately, the requirement that a person must land at least one male horseshoe crab for each female horseshoe crab landed is rescinded. The commercial horseshoe crab fishery will continue as described in regulation.
The Secretary may, by public notice, alter the catch limits or close the season if the catch rates exceed expectations or the allowable catch is taken earlier than expected.
