DNR has announced that three areas of the Wye River in Queen Anne's and Talbot County will be open for the dredging of razor clams on a rotational basis with special restrictions. A special permit is required and only authorized clammers who have declared their intent to razor clam for the year will be considered. A maximum of 30 permits will be issued. Only one area will be open at a time on certain days. Check the public notice for details. Clams must be dyed blue prior to leaving the harvest area to address human health concerns. To be considered for a permit, you must submit a completed application via email, fax, or regular mail to one of the following: email - mnaylor@dnr.state.md.us; fax - 410-260-8279; mail Department of Natural Resources Shellfish Program, 580 Taylor Ave, B-2, Annapolis, MD 21401.
