Beginning in early October, DNR Fisheries Service biologists and technicians will stock roughly 24,500 one-pound rainbow and golden trout, about 1500 one-pound brown trout and an additional 300 rainbow and golden trout weighing two to three pounds. The Freshwater Institute, a research facility in West Virginia is also donating about a thousand rainbow trout to the Maryland fall trout stocking effort.

Stocking dates and locations are dependent on water flow and temperatures. Based on current conditions, DNR anticipates stocking to proceed in many places beginning the second week of October. All of the fish will be released by the first of November.
