To Allow Fishermen to Prepare for Hurricane Irene
Effective immediately, the Department of Natural Resources will not be enforcing the times for removing crabs from commercial crab pots from Thursday, August 25, 2011 through Monday, August 29, 2011. Licensees may keep crabs removed from crab pots during this period. All other regulations pertaining to the commercial harvest of crabs remain in effect. The purpose of this action is to allow fishermen to prepare for Hurricane Irene by removing their gear from waters of the Chesapeake Bay and the Coastal Bays of the Atlantic Ocean. Enforcement of times will resume at 11:59 pm Monday, August 29, 2011.
