Annual Marines helping Marines Fishing Tournament – North East

Type: Tidal
Region: North Eastern
Location: Anchor Marina

This marks the 6th year for this Fishing Tournament held at the Anchor Marina in North East; however it was the 1st year that the organization offered a youth event. It was open to the kids of volunteers and the Wounded Warriors participating in the fishing tournament. Since many of the kids were young and first time anglers, the group of about 17 anglers was given some basic instruction in: knot tying, safe casting, and fish identification and their preferred habitat so they know what to expect to catch while fishing off the piers. It was a beautiful day for fishing and most kids were catching White Perch, sunfish and one very excited boy got a large catfish up to the surface before it jumped off his line; at least he now has a “fish story”. All youth anglers were given a new rod and tackle box and a few other goodies to hopefully continue fishing in the future.
