3 Nice Bass at Dickerson
Location: Potomac River
Today myself, Derek Douglas from Ellicott City, MD, and my friend Michael Pietak from Manassas, VA, fished the warm water discharge at the Dickerson Conservation Park. We hiked to the open area that is closest to the actual discharge. Although the trails seemed to dry out throughout the course of the day, they are muddy and very slippery, boots are recommended! Mike took a spill coming down the trail from the parking lot (which was hilarious). We caught three beautiful fish over the course of a few hours in the afternoon, and activity seems to be really picking up down there (insects, minnows, etc). Two largemouth were caught and released, as well as a smallmouth caught and released. One largemouth was caught on a long stickbait, one on a texas rig, and the smallmouth was caught on a plastic shad. The water is full of logs and as such, is VERY prone to snagging anything you throw out there. There was a lot of garbage (bottles, worm containers, plastic, etc.), please carry out what you bring so we can keep our river and park clean and healthy!
