A Good Day On The Loch

Type: Freshwater
Region: Central
Location: Loch Raven Reservoir

My friend Eric ( the one in the ravens hoody ) and I went to Loch Raven to do a little fishing on 4/28/2013, and we left a couple of happy campers.

We arrived at the fishing center around 9:00 am and quickly gathered our gear and set off for our favorite spots, conditions were favorable it was about 60 degrees and slightly windy. When we arrived at our spot the bite was quick and thick, within minutes Eric had landed 2 Chain Pickerel. One was 17 inches and the other was 16, both had some girth and put up a mean fight. I had a few but couldn’t land them… Luck didn’t seem to favor me in our first spot, so after the action died down we moved to our second spot. The bite was on for me in our second spot and I quickly connected with 3 chains all being 18 inches and having plenty of girth and fight to match, we were using Black and White rooster tails, which seemed to be the most effective. We saw some descent bass in the shallows but they had no interest in us, still think it’s a little early for them to bite. In all it was a good day spent on the Loch and I hope everyone has as much fun as we did. All fish were released healthy and unharmed to enjoy for another day…. Tight Lines Y’all
