Another Good Day of Fishing at Fletchers

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Fletcher's Boat Hous

The Hickory Shad are biting better at Fletcher's Boat House on the Potomac River in Washington DC. I went to my usual place above the boat house on the Potomac River and found almost every spot taken. I managed to squeeze in at one vacant spot trying not to be too close to other anglers. The shad hit almost every cast and I hooked a variety of sizes. This good fishing lasted from about 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The last few minutes I tried casting a Crocodile spoon for Striped Bass but hooked nothing. The shad did not want to bite the larger lure. I wonder if shad will bite a 3-4 inch silver spoon? Many fisherman would like to target both shad and larger fish like Striped Bass, Walleye etc. The good fishing should last at least into the beginning of June with White Shad taking over. Tight lines all.
