Brown Trout at Gunpowder Falls
Type: Freshwater
Region: Central
Location: Gunpowder Falls
I went fishing at Gunpowder Falls, and had a great day. I got to the stream around 7:45, and fished till they stopped hitting….. which was about 12 pm. The size of the fish varied from about 6 inches to one big 16 inch trout. I was told that all the trout in the stream are brook trout and some rainbows, but I was convinced that this 16 incher was a brown trout. Is there any chance that it was a brown?
DNR Response: You hooked a healthy looking brown trout. Most of the trout in that section of the river are brown trout, DNR stocks rainbows in the lower sections while brook trout can be found in some tributaries.
