A research framework was developed and implemented based upon recommendations from the National Research Council’s 2003 report “Nonnative Oysters in the Chesapeake Bay” and the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee. More than $10 million has been expended on approximately 40 nonnative oyster research projects since the EIS was initiated. A significant amount of this research is available and undergoing peer review. Additional research is ongoing and will be incorporated into the EIS as it becomes available.
