Updates to Title 27 Regulations
The Commission is proposing the following amendments concerning:
Modified Buffer Areas Required to Submit a Buffer Management Plan with a Shore Erosion Control Permit
Clarifying the Application of the 200-foot Buffer Provision
- COMAR 27.01.09.01 - Include lots in a mapped Buffer Modification Area as needing to submit a Buffer Management Plan and Buffer Notification Form at the time of application to MDE for a shore erosion control permit.
- COMAR 27.01.09.01 - Clarify the provisions pertaining to the 200-foot Buffer and the requirement for an expanded Buffer to that buffer.
- COMAR 27.01.09.01 - Edit certain sections to eliminate redundancy in the text.
All of the proposed amendments will not lessen or increase the current requirements.
STATUS: The following appear in the June 28th edition of the Maryland Register. The proposed regulations contain amendments to COMAR 27.01.09.01, Buffer Regulations. The purpose of the amendments is outlined below.
This new publication was developed to assist homeowners with planting and maintaining shoreline Buffers. It includes lots of information about the importance of the Critical Area Buffer and includes Buffer Management Plans that can be used to satisfy Buffer planting requirements for new construction on waterfront lots.
