NOTICE TO BOATERS

MAJOR RIVER SYSTEM:
Patapsco - Rock Creek
COUNTY OR COUNTIES IN AREA:
Anne Arundel County

The Department of Natural Resources has received a petition to extend the current 6 knots at all times vessel speed limit during the boating season (April 15 – October 15), to 6 knots at all times, all year. The proposal would encompass all the waters of Rock Creek above a line beginning at Lat. 39° 09.297'N., Long. 76° 30.027' W. running 329˚ to a point Lat. 39° 09.465'N., Long. 76° 30.157'W.

The action is being requested to control ‘unreasonable speeds' by vessels on Mondays through Fridays according to the petitioners.

The Department will conduct a survey and study of this area during the 2008 boating season. Interested parties are encouraged to provide comments on the requested regulatory change. Written comments will be accepted until September 8, 2008.
