REGULATION REQUESTS FOR 2009

Potomac River
PG County - to establish a 6-knot speed zone on the waters of Smoot Bay.

Severn River Valentine Creek
AA County - to establish a six knot at all time speed limit on the upper end of Valentine Creek.

Sassafras River
KE County - to establish a minimum wake zone on the waters of Lloyd's Creek and the near shore area just out side the mouth of the Creek.
Potomac River
King George County VA - the area of Caledon Natural Area (DCR) in King George County, to be allowed non-motorized, Park sponsored activities, and to allow DCR staffed vessels to operate at speeds of 6 knots or less, during the restricted period.

State of Maryland
All Counties - to amend the PWC regulations as follows: A person may not operate or give permission to operate a PWC on the waters of the state in a manner that causes personal injury resulting from subject(s): Falling or being ejected from the PWC OR Jumping or attempting to jump waves or wakes

DISPOSITION OF REGULATION REQUESTS FOR 2008

The official public comment period will be according to the publication date in the MD Register.

The Maryland Boat Act Advisory Committee, BAAC reviews boating regulations for the State of Maryland. BAAC is made up of representatives of people from all different active water groups in Maryland. They are appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and are a citizen volunteer committee. They donate their time and boating experience to provide insight into proposals for regulatory action. The Committee meets on a regular basis to review regulatory proposals.
