NOTICE TO BOATERS
MAJOR RIVER SYSTEM:
Patuxent River - St John’s and Mill Creek
COUNTY OR COUNTIES IN AREA:
Calvert CountyThe Department of Natural Resources has received a petition to amend the length at which vessels are not subject to a 6 knots at all times speed limit from 17 feet to 19 feet, by altering the definition contained in the restricted speed zone. The requested action would apply to the waters of St. John’s and Mill Creek in Calvert County, upstream Solomon's Harbor.
According to the petitioners, this action is being requested to allow better recreational use of the water by currently available vessels. Regulations governing the use of PWC’s would not be impacted.
The Department will conduct a survey and study of this area during the 2008 boating season. Interested parties are encouraged to provide comments on the requested regulatory change. Written comments will be accepted until September 8, 2008.
