The Nonpoint Source Management Program is dedicated
to protecting and restoring Maryland's water resources. The Program supports a wide
variety of nonpoint source control activities including technical assistance,
environmental education and training, technology transfer, demonstration
projects, and monitoring projects. The Nonpoint Source Program provides
financial assistance to other state agencies, local governments, and
universities to implement nonpoint source projects through
the Clean Water Act's Section 319 Grant. The NPS Program has received approximately $ 3.0 million dollars per grant year since
2001. The state matches these federal funds with an annual commitment to
spend over two million dollars. The Nonpoint Source Program sponsors
approximately 20-25 individual nonpoint source implementation projects per
year.
